The Shang social structure consisted of six parts, emporers, nobles, artisians, traders and merchants, farmers, and slaves. Emporers consisted of kings and their relatives and they rulled The Shang Dynasty. Nobles were military leaders and worriers and supplied the army with weapons, foot soldiers, and chariots. Artisans were a group of skilled workers that worked as potters, stone masons, bronze and jade crafters, and also made decorations and stuff for the army. Traders and merchants traded with people and sold things. They used cowrie bones as money. Farmers were the largest social class. They farmed small plots of land that usually belonged to the king or a noble. On the land they farmed millet, weat, barley, rice, fruit, vegetables, and nuts. Slaves were usually prisoners of war and built tombs and palaces. When their master died they were sacrificed.
